A blog about writing, teaching, opinions, being surrounded by bright young things...and trying to make sense of our lives

OK, that first blog was a little irreverent and I shouldn't have used that one particular not OK word. (Self-censorship creeping in!) Truly creative people don't have to resort to gutter language, right?
I am so hurt that you commented on everyone else's blog except for mine! (Just kidding...I'm just jealous that I don't have a funny post from you.)
And I laughed a lot about your "You know what they say. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's got one" statement...so don't worry about it. See you in class tomorrow!
I'm late to this blogging thing, but what the heck. This (teaching writing) is the third act of my life. The first was a bizarre stint in a religious commune in the early 70s (which I write about in my memoir, "So Late, So Soon"), the second was my career as a journalist (about 17 years), and finally this mid-life thing as a teacher at a small liberal arts college in Ohio, of all places. I'm married to a sweet man, the mother of a college-aged son, and my life is full of books, animals, young people, and trees.
D'Arcy,
